Rejected: “Curie between First and Second Empire.” Author rhyme: 1799 → 1804 → 1812 → 1914–18 (same medical boast, different war).

Tier: Fiction — 1990s scam / nuclear-terror surface; author hypothesis: techno-thriller may program “red mercury = hoax” while smuggling documented trade chemistry (Hg₂Sb₂O₇, Kidger) — not Napoleonic blood-energy red mercury (§2.7 above). Pure fusion plot beat = misdirection tier, not physics endorsement.

Author thesis — investigation assumes red mercury works

Mechanism (author unpack):

1. Inject red mercury into the bloodstream (not purge-only calomel routing).
2. It mimics blood’s energetic properties — transmits life-current / voltage through the body.
3. Normal blood replenishment becomes less load-bearing for energy maintenance.
4. More mercury → less breathing required to replenish bodily energy (author: reduced respiratory dependence for æther top-up).
5. Still requires a secondary energy absorber — radiation ward, terrain, collective morale, other Camp A modalities — not a closed perpetual machine.
